Checking Out Library Books During Distance Learning

Select DJUSD libraries are open to check-out library books to DJUSD students. All DJUSD students are invited to check-out books from their grade-level libraries. Each site has different procedures for checking out books, so you will need to visit their site for instructions. For a list of open libraries and the steps to check-out books, please visit: http://bit.ly/DJUSDLibraries

To request a book for check-out from HOLMES, please follow this process:

1 - Go to the Holmes Online Catalog

2 - Search for the book you want to borrow.

3 - Once you know what book you want to borrow, fill out the Holmes Library Book Request Form.
  • Students may check out 3 books at a time for 3 weeks.
  • Distribution day will be every Thursday from 1:30-3:30 at the MPR parking lot doors.
  • Students will wear a mask
  • Social distance (line -up 6 feet apart)
  • Should have student ID with them to verify identity
  • Books may be returned to any open DJUSD library, although we encourage you to return books to our school (Drop boxes will be coming soon) or to a cart at pick-up Thursday.
  • Requests must be made by 12:00 Thursday for it to be there on that day. No requests will be allowed during pick up time.
  • If a student fails to retrieve the book after 2 weeks of pick-up days, the book will be put back on the shelf and the student will need to start the request process over.
  • If there is a waiting list for a book, the student will need to pick it up the first time. They will be sent an email (via Canvas) notifying them of the need to pick it up the first time.

Our first distribution will be on Thursday, November 12th, 2020.

Remember: These are the procedures for Holmes Library, they may be different at Harper or Emerson.
